Cleansing
Cleansing is all-important in the daily skin care, irregardless of age and should not be underestimated. The skin is exposed daily to dust, dirt and other impurities. Cleansing is the foundation for correct skin care. It removes excess oil and dirt that blocks pores and leads to various problems. Thorough cleansing removes the outer layer of dead skin cells and the skin becomes smooth and full of life. Always cleanse your face before going to bed, since this preserves the skin and keeps it healthy longer.
Clean skin prevents pimples and is a prerequisite for skin creams to be able to make the most of your skin. Washing with soap and water is however not a good idea, not even if you thoroughly rinse away all the soap and never use strong soap on your face. Regular soap and water blocks the pores so that excess oil can not get up to the surface. This dries out the skin, which causes it to age faster and have less protection against fungus. The skin becomes so tight after washing it with soap as a result of a temporary pH imbalance between the basic soap and the skin, which is slightly acidic.
Instead of soap, you should use a cleanser which is specifically prepared for the skin on your face. These are available in cream or gel forms, which you work up to a lather on moist skin. Wash with water that has the same temperature as the body for best results.
Many brands have different variations for dry, oily or combination skin. Gel often works best on oily skin, while a cleansing lotion is kinder to dry skin.
