If you have dandruff or itchy scalp it can be a good idea to avoid too strong or perfumed hair products, such as hair products that contain alcohol, as hair mousse and hair gel.

Dandruff is small white or yellow flakes of dead skin cells that come off the scalp and can be seen in the hair or on clothing. It is often linked to an overproduction of oil on the scalp or a yeast-like fungus called Malassezia. Scalp itching can be a result of dandruff but can also be caused by other conditions such as dry skin, eczema or psoriasis. Regular shampooing with dandruff shampoo can help control the symptoms.
