Strops

A razor without disposable blades must be stropped before each shave to keep its sharpness. If you also use a leather paste it will take a long time before you need to sharpen your razor.

Make sure that you pull your cut-throat with the back first and that it lay flat against the leather. Pull the straight razor (cut-throat) approximately 15 times on the outer side to warm up the blade then pull the blade another 30 times over the leather. This should be done before every shave with a cut-throat.

NEVER strop the knife with the edge first, it destroys it! Neither should you wash the knife after stropping, only after shaving. Wipe the knife carefully afterwords to avoid staining.
