Dorayaki
Dorayaki is a popular Japanese confectionery consisting of two soft, round, pancake-like patties made from castella batter, usually filled with sweet azuki bean paste (anko). The pancakes are fluffy, golden brown and slightly sweet, creating a delightful contrast to the soft, sweet filling. Dorayaki can also be filled with other ingredients such as vanilla sauce, matcha cream, chocolate or chestnut paste.
Dorayaki, traditionally associated with Japanese tea snacks, became more internationally known through the beloved Japanese anime character Doraemon, who is known for enjoying these sweet treats.
