Gunpowder

Gunpowder is a collective name for various explosives with the ability to burn and thus develop gas in confined spaces. Gunpowder is used primarily for the propulsion of missiles and rockets, and more and more rarely for blasting. There are two different varieties of powder; Mechanical gunpowder is a mixture of various substances and chemical propellants that are based on chemical compounds in which nitrocellulose is usually included.

A sort of gunpowder was manufactured in China as early as the 800s by Taoist monks.
