Nasomatto Micodelirio
The fact that the Italian avant-garde house Nasomatto often pushes boundaries is well known by now, and the earthy, umami-infused fragrance Micodelirio is no exception. The name is a combination of the words mico (meaning mushroom or the study of fungi) and deliri (delirium, madness, hallucination). Here, creator Alessandro Gualtieri alludes to magic mushrooms and the hallucinogenic, disorienting experience of losing control deep within a forest.
Once again, we are greeted by a spectacular cap, this time resembling a cross between a tree stump, an unknown alien creature and a mushroom. Mushroom is also said to be the key ingredient in this strange yet fascinating composition, where Gualtieri takes us on a journey into a dark, mysterious and swamp-like landscape – wild and almost impenetrable.
As usual, Gualtieri reveals no note pyramid, but the fragrance opens with damp, mossy and forest-like nuances before moving into slightly bitter, waxy citrus peels. The mushroom remains present throughout every layer of the composition – all the way into the base, where green, dark and woody accords lead us deeper into the heart of the ancient forest. Like most Nasomatto creations, Micodelirio is a fragrance that both challenges and seduces, appealing to connoisseurs of niche perfumery who seek experiences beyond traditional boundaries.
