5 tips from the barber
Gents focuses
Our barbers get hundreds of questions every month, asking about shaving and trimming. Some of which are recurring. In this article we have gathered the best answers to the most frequent questions. Here are the specialists greatest tips:

1. LESS IS MORE
Having every product on the market will not help with anything if you’re not using them correctly. You don’t need to wash your beard with a beard shampoo every day, one or two times a week is enough, otherwise you may dehydrate your beard. You shouldn’t be drenching your beard in beard oil, use four to five drops at the most and massage it into the beard thoroughly. Nor should you shave every day, your skin needs a few days rest to recuperate. We recommend 2-4 days in between your shaving sessions.
2. GET HELP - From the specialists
Go to a barber and get your beard taken care off, unless you have five mirrors in different angles and positions at home so that you can see yourself in profile. It is essential to examine your beard, since it is entirely unique to you and swirls are not an uncommon presence. If you shave these swirls to intensely the cuts are not far behind. Shaving is not as easy as the Gillette commercials make it seem!
3. DRINK WATER & BE ACTIVE
We know, it’s easy to kick in an open door, but it is inevitable when the subject matter is so important! To provide your body with hydration and an active lifestyle is obvious. If your body is healthy, in good shape and is getting enough vitamins and minerals both your beard and hair will grow faster as well as looking much healthier.
4. preparation is everything
Always prepare your skin for what is to come. If you don’t usually shower before shaving, make sure to open up and soften up those follicles with a warm damp towel. Not only does this decrease the stress caused to the skin while shaving, it also makes it easier to create clean sharp lines to your beard. The softer the skin, the better the glide. The better the glide, the better the shave. Therefore we recommend using a pre-shave oil before shaving to give the skin the best possible shaving experience.
5. adjust the trim
A general tip is to trim less than what is planned for the end result. If you, for example, want to trim your beard down to 6 mm, it theoretically comes out as 8-9 mm. Therefore if you want a 6 mm trim, choose the 4 mm trim setting. This is because the hairs are not entirely straight and also might bend when trimmed, making the beard look shorter than it is. If you have a medium length or long beard a hot tip is to shave downwards instead of upwards, it will provide a more clean and neat finish.
