Bortnikoff Lao Oud Handmade Sample
Parfumer Dmitry Bornikoff comments on his exclusive perfume Lao Oud - the most oudy and coffee-like animalic scent in the Bortnikoff Parfums collection - with the following words:
"I have made many compositions with the ingredient oud, each of them with its unique character. However, the note of oud in my fragrances has never been as powerful and animalic as in Lao Oud. Six months ago, a magnificent oil from Laos - a beautiful country I have often visited, where time seems to have stood still since the end of the 19th century - fell into my hands: it smelled of honey and flowers with a characteristic animalic note. The oil from Laos smells extremely close to Indian, but it is much softer. I complemented it with notes of beautiful Laotian coffee, frangipani flowers, the smell of incense that comes from many old monasteries in Laos, and fresh spices - cinnamon and rose pepper."
In the top notes, we find rose pepper and magnolia, followed by beeswax (absolute), cinnamon, cardamom, Peruvian balsam and cocoa (absolute) in the heart of the fragrance. The base is dominated by Laotian and Indian oud, coffee, creamy vanilla and tonka (absolute), incense and woody notes.
