Oud Immortel was created together with Oud Accord as a scent series dedicated to the wood species oud, which since ancient times has traditionally been used as incense and perfume. Oud has become a cultural concept in the fragrance world as the world's most precious oil and has been mentioned in what is considered to be one of our oldest historical sources - the Indian Sanskrit Veda.
The dark oud tree - or agar tree - contains complex tones that vary based on how it is treated and where it is harvested. When attacked by a particular type of root fungus its exotic heavy aroma appears.
Oud Immortel is an Oud-inspired perfume that also works spring and summer because of its crisp resinous wood chords. The top notes consist of spicy cardamom and incense that pass into the heart notes' dry wood fibers from rosewood, patchouli and papyrus. In the base we find moss and tobacco leaves.

It's the only masterpiece that Byredo still produces, although its quality has worsened in terms of longevity on the skin. I have a few splashes left in a bottle from an older batch that easily lasts on the skin for almost a full day. I have a bottle I bought in 2021, and it lasts a maximum of 6 hours.
