3 MISTAKES EVERYONE WITH A BEARD MAKES
Gents focuses
Growing a beard is popular. Beards are becoming more and more common and this year the trend is: beards but in a shorter format. But it requires care and thought, and there are several mistakes you can make along the way that can actually be avoided. Here are three of them.

#1
LACK OF CLEANSING AND MOISTURISING
Caring for your beard doesn't have to be very complicated or time-consuming, but if you want to keep it looking good and fresh, you should give it some attention. A daily cleansing with face wash or beard shampoo - maybe even a scrub a couple of times a week - will do wonders to keep your skin and facial hair clean. After all, we finger our beards all day and they are regularly exposed to bacteria. Don't use drying hand soap or soap not intended for the face. As a complement to beard shampoo (which we don't recommend using every day as it is, after all, deep cleansing), there is also a softening conditioner that you rinse out.
Moisturising afterwards or on selected occasions with a beard oil or beard balm is recommended to avoid dryness, itching and dandruff. In addition, it makes the beard smell good and also look fresh.
#2
JAW AND MOUSTACHE LINE
A classic mistake many people make when styling the lines under the jawline is to put them too high up just below the chin - this makes your beard shape not look full. If you have a double chin, for example, the result is that you further expose the subcutaneous fat instead of hiding it. Generally speaking, the line under the chin should go above the Adam's apple, but look in the mirror and feel with your hands where the jawline meets the neck.
Another error is to ignore the moustache. An unwritten rule says that on a well-groomed beard it should not grow below the bottom of the upper lip. Use smooth beard scissors or a trimmer and maintain the line regularly. Such a small detail makes more of an impact than you think!
Bonus tip! Remember not to trim your moustache too much - especially if you have a light-coloured or white beard. Don't be afraid to emphasise the moustache. If it is lighter than the rest of your beard (which is not uncommon), you can also define it with Beard Filler.
#3
FORGET TO BRUSH
Many people may miss the usefulness of a beard brush and see it only as an unnecessary styling product, but the fact is that it has multiple functions and should never be missing from your arsenal of accessories. Not only does it straighten out the tangles in a long and thick beard and also forces the hair to grow in the direction you brush it, but it also helps to evenly distribute the oil you apply to your beard. If you've noticed flaking, it's simply due to an excess of dry, dead skin cells blocking the skin's ability to produce moisture, which is where the oil comes in.
So, the brush's job is to exfoliate the dead skin layers and help the oil or beard balm to penetrate, while a comb is great for external styling and for cutting the shape a little more, for example when applying beard wax. However, be careful not to brush your beard when it's wet or damp, as this causes wear and tear.
