2024 is the year of our 20th anniversary, marking two decades of tireless dedication and commitment to inspiring men to a better life. Since our inception in 2004, we've been a trusted source for quality, style and geeky expertise.
This milestone has given us a moment of reflection, and an opportunity to reflect on Gent's journey so far. The balance between joyful, successful moments and challenging and temporary disruptions is a factor in what we are today. We cannot help but feel enormous pride in having been a steady constant in a time that has been equal parts enriching and challenging.
When we look back at the years that have passed and how the world has changed, it's almost unbelievable what we have actually experienced and ‘survived’ during these 20 years.
In the same year that Gents was founded, Facebook was born, changing the way we communicate forever. At the same time, Google also entered the stock market. IPHONE
We have witnessed historic political shifts, the advent of AI and global financial crises. We have fought through two pandemics and adapted to a new trade following new agreements, not least the Paris Agreement and Brexit.
From Bush to Biden, we have witnessed four different US presidential administrations, with each change presenting a new set of worries, spearheaded by the economy, war and nuclear weapons.
Alongside the political landscape, the world has seen a myriad of styles, some worse than others, there's been an incredible clash of fashion styles, with Beckham and his myriad hairstyles leading the way.
However, it is not without hard work, skill and great effort that our successful journey has progressed. Because while there are two or three drops of humility, there is a whole other dose of pride in all the strategic trade-offs we have made over the years, from business-critical moments to extreme time pressure and tough decisions.
Pride also comes when we reflect on our customers and their tremendous commitment, loyalty, passion and geekiness that have inspired us over the years. The passion they show for detail, quality and knowledge is what drives us to constantly strive to surpass ourselves in order to give back the highest quality products and expertise.
We can confidently say that despite a completely changed landscape, we will continue to survive more eras of different kinds. This is an exciting time in Ghent's continuing history and we look forward to inspiring others over the next 20 years.
