The barber lists - 5 hottest styles right now
What hairstyles are trending and what do Ghent's barbers want to make a comeback?

THE 90'S ARE STILL HANGING ON
The 90s have long been trending and it doesn't seem to be slowing down. Younger men will still ask for the centre parting ala Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic. A relatively easy-to-work hairstyle that suits many types of hair. If you are looking for this style, you should ask your hairdresser to keep the bangs slightly longer. Use a lightweight wax with medium hold and shine to keep the hair in place without weighing it down.
EMBRACE YOUR CURLS
What we're seeing more and more is that men are daring to embrace their natural curls. We think it's so stylish. If you want to be really on trend, combine the curls with an undercut and keep the length on top. When styling curly hair, remember to use products that are adapted for this purpose. A soft, easy-to-use wax is preferable, but a mousse or gel can also work.
THE HOME CUT
Now that many people have shied away from going to the hairdresser, we see more and more people cutting their hair at home. In some cases, they have succeeded very well, while other cases are more doubtful. If you want to cut or trim your hair at home, we recommend that you
- Get good tools.
- Take it a little at a time, don't cut it all at once.
- Ask for help from a family member, partner or friend.
"The malmo" fade
When Gent's barber started working in the salon on Hamngatan in Malmo, he noticed a distinct trend among the men, something he named the Malmö fade. Actually, it's like a regular Shadow fade with short hair at the bottom of the neck and on the sides, gradually becoming longer towards the top of the head. If you want to keep the hair really long at the top, you can instead ask for a disconnected fade. Then the transition between the hair on the sides and the crown is clearer.
LENGTH OF THE SIDES
Another trend we see right now is that men dare to keep a little more length on the sides (like the picture below). Length on the sides creates a vibrant hairstyle and to get that casual beach look, we recommend using a saltwater spray. If you want a more polished look, hair wax is the way to go.
We asked our barber Simon about what trend he wants back....
- Then I would definitely say the moustache! I can see that more and more people are starting to venture into moustaches. Read our journal on 5 hot moustache styles for inspiration!
