White pepper

White pepper comes from the same plant as black pepper and green pepper. What distinguishes pepper varieties is the harvest and preparation. The pepper plant originated in India and has been cultivated for thousands of years. In contrast, white pepper has a shorter history than black pepper, which was the first use. White pepper is now common to have in light sauces, mashed potatoes or white meat because of the black pepper stand out visually.
