Why We Recommend Face Masks
– Gents Focus
Did you know that men have thicker, oilier, and more porous skin than women? Did you know that men are more prone to breakouts? But there’s no reason to worry – there’s a simple and effective solution.
"I regret taking good care of my skin"
- said no one ever.
A soothing, hydrating, and rejuvenating face mask provides a protective layer to the skin. Usually rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, these masks heal unhealthy or damaged skin. According to board-certified dermatologist Adriana Lombardi, the ingredients in face masks penetrate deeper into the skin than regular daily creams.
Here’s how to use a face mask correctly to maximize its benefits:
1. Prepare your skin
Before applying the mask, cleanse your skin and remove any oil, dirt, or cosmetic residue. Use a mild facial cleanser to thoroughly wash your face. You may also exfoliate with a gentle facial scrub to remove dead or dry skin and prepare your skin for the mask.
2. Open your pores
Open pores are like an open mind – they absorb better. Take a warm shower or use a warm towel on your face for a few minutes. Alternatively, hold your face over steaming water for 1–2 minutes.
3. Choose the right mask for your skin type
If you have normal skin, it’s balanced and free from issues. Use cream-based masks. For oily skin, a clay mask works wonders in removing excess oil. Hydrating masks are ideal for dry, stressed, or sensitive skin.
4. Apply evenly
Gently apply the mask evenly with clean fingertips or a soft brush, avoiding the eyes, nose, and mouth. Let it sit for 15–20 minutes to work its magic.
5. Rinse with warm water
Rinse off with warm water after the recommended time. Cold water isn’t as effective. Ensure you remove the mask completely to avoid irritation.
6. Finish with toner & moisturizer
Pat your face dry with a soft towel and apply a toner and light moisturizer to lock in the benefits of the mask.
Face masks deeply cleanse the skin, leaving it refreshed, relaxed, and glowing. They fight fine lines and other signs of aging, making them an essential addition to your skincare routine.
