Self-tanning lotions are definitely underrated. It has been a long time since these products were recognizable by their conspicuous yellow-orange colour result. Today there are many high-quality products on the market that give a golden-brown sun tan as close to the real thing as you can get.
The advantage with using self-tanners is naturally that you avoid all of the side effects and damage that a real suntan involves, such as wrinkles, cancer, etc. There are however some things you should remember when using self-tanning products.
1. Before you put on the lotion it can be advantageous to brush the body with a brush or sponge. This is because it can be difficult to get an even suntan if you have sections with unevenly distributed dead skin cells on the body. The same treatment on the face should be performed with a scrubbing cream (a brush can be too rough for the more sensitive facial skin).
2. Rub a moisturizer onto the areas of the body where you are planning to use self-tanning lotion, paying particular attention to dry knees and elbows. The result will be a more even and better suntan.
3. Only use the product on the areas where you normally would get a suntan, in other words not, for instance, on the soles of the feet.
4. It can be difficult to smear in your own back. It can be a good idea to warn the girlfriend or neighbour that you may need help.
5. Wash the palms of your hands, between the fingers and the inside of the wrists carefully when you are finished. The palms do not usually tan.
6. Go around naked, or in underwear, a few hours until the lotion has been absorbed by the skin. It can smell a little strange while the cream is drying, but this is nothing to be concerned about. These are just the active components working.
