DIFFERENT TYPES OF BEARDS
Finding the right Christmas gift
Buying a gift for someone with a beard can be tricky. Depending on the length and fullness of the beard, the beard needs different types of products, which can be difficult for someone who doesn't have a beard to know. That's why we've put together Christmas gifts and expertise on the different types of beards, so you can show off your Christmas gift and knowledge!

TO A SMALL BEARD
The most common question we get during Christmas is what to buy for a man who "only has a small beard", as it's easy to think that a small beard doesn't require much maintenance. But even if he "only" has a small beard, a man with a beard always needs a beard oil. The main function of the beard oil is to moisturize not only the beard but mainly the skin underneath. When we stop shaving, over time a layer of dead skin cells forms under the beard, which can lead to itching, rashes or dandruff. Dead skin cells prevent the skin from producing moisture, which makes it extra important to use beard oil to add just that. We have a wide range of beard oils, all with the same function but with varying scents. Benjamin Barber's Black Oak is a favorite with the older crowd and Sailor's Antartica is a favorite with the younger crowd.
To remove the dead skin cells, he will also need a brush and a face scrub. As he doesn't have a large beard, a smaller brush will suffice.
FOR A MEDIUM-SIZED BEARD
The main difference between a small and a medium-sized beard is that it is increasingly difficult to access the dead skin cells. He therefore needs, among other things, a good beard scrub that penetrates more easily between the beard hairs so that the skin can get the nourishment it needs and thus avoid itching. The Italian brand Proraso has a really good beard scrub that we highly recommend
The longer our beards get, the more products there are to use. In addition to beard oil, Beard Balm is a product that men with medium-sized beards like to use, as it softens the beard hairs while making the beard a little easier to shape. Beard Balm should be applied from the outside in to the skin, unlike beard oil which is applied from the inside out.
A middle beard also needs tools to keep it in check. A pair of scissors is always good to have so you can easily trim your beard and remove protruding hairs. We also recommend gifting a slightly coarser brush that both straightens the beard and can be used to scrub the skin.
TO A BIG BEARD
The longer the bristles, the more care a beard requires. So for the man with a big beard, there is a wide range of great gifts that he will appreciate.
Keeping your beard looking good requires some products, but it's often forgotten that your beard (just like your hair) needs to be cleaned after using beard products so that it doesn't feel greasy and dirty. So give away a beard shampoo and beard conditioner kit that cleans, moisturizes and leaves your beard smelling great!
The majority of men with a longer beard have a problem with splitting, which is a natural consequence of the symmetry of the face. We therefore recommend that he blow-dry his beard with a round hairbrush after a shower to shape it.
After blow-drying, he should collect the beard hairs, which is best done with a Beard Balm or a softer beard wax. Sailor's Beard Wax is a big favorite among men with big beards.
