5 IDEAL NEGOTIATION PERFUMES
- FOR WOMEN
By Jenny Rydhström, VD at Gents
Negotiations are fun if you are relaxed and confident. But they require you to have the right tools in your box and your perfume is one of them. For example, I have a special perfume for very important negotiations where it is absolutely necessary to reach my goals or where my starting point is bad.

In the animal world, communication through scent is very common. In humans, the importance of scent as a communication tool has diminished over millions of years of evolution. In particular, humans' improved vision and hearing have dulled our ability to interpret odours. Despite this, your olfactory organs register smells even at very low concentrations and often completely unconsciously. Make the most of this in a negotiation!Skippa alla parfymer som är traditionellt kvinnligt blommiga och som signalerar en traditionell könsroll.
- Avoid the perfumes you might wear in a nightclub
- Opt out of perfumes you would wear on a date or those that allude to sex. This includes most perfumes that are dark, sensual and tend to contain organic scents such as musk, amber, the dirty version of oud and other animalic notes that are meant to evoke sex, anus, sweat and bodily fluids (yes, they're more common than you think and you probably have a few on your bathroom shelf that you never thought of!).
Instead, keep it professional and go for the alpha female look. The easiest way to do this is with perfumes that are drier (i.e. low in sweetness) and that are likely to inspire respect or shake up your counterpart.
Here are my top perfume tips for a successful negotiation:
1. Di Ser Kyara
This is my special perfume for very important negotiations. If you smell this scent at the negotiating table, you probably have something I really want to get my hands on. It is austere, cool and a hitman in patchouli disguise. The discreet (and non-dirty) odour lies like an unspoken threat between the lines. And the other party is subconsciously aware of this.
2 . Nasomatto Black Afgano
A man's perfume that smells of liquorice and herbs. It's deep, different and a real mouthful, even for a man. My colleague and Gents perfume expert Denis, first smelled it on a Spanish beauty and describes it as his head being completely "tilted". A dominant man's perfume on a smart woman and most people lose their minds completely.
3 . Roja Enigma pour Femme
Roja Enigma pour Femme is a great negotiating perfume for the elegant, determined businesswoman who doesn't want to give up her femininity just because she's playing hardball. This is the kind of woman I like to negotiate with, because I know that it will be good for both parties and that our collaboration will stand the test of time.
4 .Widian London
Widian London is a bolder scent that clearly shows who is in charge of the room. But keep in mind that excessive strength is always a weakness. So use it with caution if you don't want to be perceived as a bulldozer. I have fallen into this trap myself: sprayed a few times too much, took over the room - and lost the whole deal. In discreet amounts, however, Widian is a deal sealer.
5 Ingen parfym alls.
If you are a strong negotiator, it may be fair to your counterpart to go in naked. This is especially true when negotiating with younger and less experienced colleagues. Live and let live.
